Beads and Lace

The estate sales this past weekend were nothing to jump up and down about.  The first sale Saturday morning promised vintage clothing.  I'm wondering where they came up with that one.  But on the upside I didn't have to leave empty handed.  I picked up a couple vintage Vogue sewing patterns, a handful of millinery tidbits and some beaded purses.  More like remnants of beaded purses and some vials of loose beads.  The second sale was also a little bit of a joke.  I don't know what was up with the girl running the sale.  I almost walked out but she finally gave me an ok deal on a lace shawl that, well, I think I'm liking more and more.  So I'll forgive her for trying to over charge.

March's Favorite Find

Antique flapper dresser tray with metallic trimming, lace and little pink silk rosettes.

First one I have ever found.  Someday I will travel to France and bring home boxes of these.  A girl can dream!

Last Weekend Sales

I went to two sales last weekend.  The first was on Friday, and it was early and close, so of course I went.  The first things I search for at sales is vintage clothing so I always head to the bedrooms.  I just happened to turn my head and see a closet with clothes in it out of the corner of my eye.  I got a 2 50's vintage dresses, a coat, a suit and a cute Juniorette hat by Mr. John with original hat box and tags.  The upstairs didn't have anything clothing wise except children's and it wasn't anything special.  But I did find some embroidered pillow cases which I have a major weakness for.

White on white embroidery...so pretty

Roosters on a pillow case?  Still cute, yes.

And check these out!  I have never seen early movie stars embroidered on pillowcases before.  I love these!  I'm going to have a hard time selling them...maybe I'll keep them.

On Saturday morning I went to a sale that advertised vintage Christmas ornaments which I am collecting for a project of mine.  I got some nice chippy ones with nice patterns.

Then I found a pile of these little boys knickers from the 20's.  I love when I find unexpected items.  I think they should sell well.  I love the old labels on them.

All in all it was a good weekend.  Except for the sale I missed that I planned on going to, but didn't.  I'm still sick about missing it.  I heard there was some good stuff there.  But I can't talk about it anymore, I have to put it out of my mind and move on.

Lovely Lilly

Rest in peace Lilly Pulitzer.  I adore your colorful little shift dresses.  You are a great talent and we will always cherish your name.

I wanted to post my weekend finds but wanted to pay a little tribute to Lilly.  Next post I'll show some of my recent finds and March's Favorite Find too.
