Christmas Wreath Gifts

This year I made a few gifts instead of buying them.  I am not much of a crafter.  I like doing it but don't really have the time for it, and I often get discouraged if my project doesn't come out the way I imagine it in my head.  But I had seen several vintage ornament wreaths on some of my favorite blogs and thought, "I can do that".  I searched all year for old ornaments at estate sales.  I ended up making one ornament wreath for my mom, a pink ornament bunt cake for my little sister and a vintage jewelry wreath for my big sister.  Here is how they came out.  Not totally perfect but I'm happy with them, and I can't really decide which one is my favorite because I like them each for different reasons.

The pink bunt cake.  For my little sister because she is pink and sparkly and loves to cook and bake.

The big Christmas wreath for my mom using some older ornaments that she probably pricing in her head how much the ornaments are worth.  She is a big collector of old Christmas.

And the jewelry wreath for my big sister.  She loves vintage jewelry.  It looks better in person than in these photos.  Nice thing about this one is you can easily take some of the jewelry off of it if you wanted to wear it.  I used old brooches, hat pins, shoe clips, button and a beaded necklace.

So what do you think of them?

One To Sell and One to Keep

Today I took an adventure about 45 minutes away to take a look at some clothing for sale from a private collection.  The woman was selling a ton of clothing and accessories from the 1800's to the 1920's.  A few dealers had been there before me and I guess bought boxes of stuff but I still went home with a few great pieces.

I bought two outfit that were tattered but I plan on selling them for parts.

This is a navy blue with tiny white dots silk two piece skirt and top with lace trim that is tattered but still good for making doll clothing.

Titanic Era cream silk dress tattered but good for lace and beading.

Some pretty Edwardian whites covered in lace embroidery.

Also got some fun hats.

And two flapper dresses.  One to sell and one to keep.  Which one will I keep?  Which one will I sell?  Can you guess?

Well if you know me at all you would know I have decided to keep the blue one with the ruffles, lace and tiny bows!

I didn't mean to be gone so long

I haven't posted anything on my blog in quite awhile and I really didn't mean for that to happen.  I enjoy talking about my vintage finds and definately miss it.  Not many people read this but I know some do and for those of you who don't already know I was gone for so long because I am expecting my second child.  The 1st trimester was not fun but I have been feeling better for a while now, I just haven't had time to catch up with my blog.  I have been to a few estate sales in the past couple months and have scored big time with victorian and edwardian lacy whites.  I will try to show some off to you before I sell them.  I don't have any pictures to show you right now but I will show you my most favorite ETSY shop in the world.

  https://www.etsy.com/shop/VintageFlowers

If I had a room filled with items from this shop I would not leave.  I have no idea how this shop owner finds these items.  I have found maybe a handful of things that would fit into this shop.  I am so very jealous.  I really think the shop owner must have connections in France!  Wouldn't that be lovely.  "Honey I'm booking another trip to Europe to buy things for my shop".  Some day, some day!

Some eye candy - These are just a few of the items I swoon over in her shop

June's Favorite Find

I don't ever buy pottery, I don't know much about it and I don't like buying things that break.  But June's Favorite Find is a pottery flower pot with a lily of the valley design.  Lily of the valley is my favorite flower and I just love the colors on this pot.  I even love it with the large crack on the back.  I don't know the maker, there are no markings or signatures.  If anyone in blog land ever reads this and knows what it is please clue me in.  I am keeping it and using it as a planter.  And I hope to find some other like this maybe with a different flower design.

Pretty Things to Make Me Smile

I have been feeling so out of sorts lately.  Sadness, frustration, anger, feeling like I take one step forward and two steps back.  Of course not everyday is like that but when it is I enjoy pretty little things that make me smile.

Here are some recent finds, don't mind my photos I rarely have time to take them when the sun is actually shining.  They are still pretty...
